DigiBox news from BVE2017

DigiBox had a successful time at the recent BVE show at London ExCeL, demonstrating a number of new products and brands to visitors. Some of the highlights included MuxLab's AV over IP, the first UK showing of AJA's HELO streaming device, SNS's Share Browser, Theatrixx xVision converters, Embrionix, Adder and Wowza.

Our product specialists showed the power of MuxLab AV over IP systems, which enables the creation of 4K video walls and video matrix systems of virtually any size. Their extensive AV over IP product line, together with ever-expanding list of supported third party software control drivers, provides a number of technology advantages. When it comes to installation, you don’t need to be an IT expert, since all matrix and video wall configuration can be achieved via a simple web interface. AV over IP systems offer great flexibility, supporting matrix and video wall configurations that are scalable to almost any size, with support for multiple connections and signal types as required. An update release in March (see MuxLab's news page) now means Crestron’s multi-room AV control software can be used to manage and control MuxLab AV over IP systems for home or commercial applications.

AJA Video Systems

BVE played host to the first UK showing of the new HELO H.264 streaming and recording device. Combining 3G-SDI and HDMI I/O into one stand-alone appliance, HELO allows users to stream video signals directly to Web Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) while simultaneously encoding and recording H.264 files to an SD card, USB drive or network based storage with the push of a button. With 3G-SDI and HDMI inputs and outputs, the power to handle up to 1080p 60 recording formats and an intuitive web-based UI for easy setup and configuration, HELO offers a range of professional workflow options that match a diverse array of streaming and recording needs for professionals working in live event production, webcasting, houses of worship, corporate communications, production and post. Compact and encased in aluminum, the lightweight device is designed to travel well for remote projects.

Theatrixx Technologies

We had the first showing of the rugged xVision converters from Theatrixx at BVE, as well as a prototype of their latest SDI to Fibre converter. The xVision video converters have features including integrated power supplies with locking PowerCON connector, plug-and-play operation, easy identification with unique colour and alphabetical coding system, magnetic stacking system, locking HDMI port and clear LED status, all housed in a rugged, tour-ready enclosure.

Studio Network Solutions

SNS were on hand with their EVO shared storage server, which gives professional media creation teams total flexibility with built-in SAN and NAS, more connectivity, more storage capacity, enhanced features like automatic project file locking, project/bin sharing, asset tagging, cloud integration, RAID 5/6, and LDAP/AD. The EVO shared storage system also comes complete with ShareBrowser software – a powerful file / project / asset management interface for network storage designed specifically to help media teams work and collaborate more efficiently.

Renaud Lavoie, President and CEO of Embrionix, was in attendance at BVE this year. The company provides innovative conversion solutions using a unique product design based on a 'SFP' (Small Form-factor Pluggable) that can be inserted directly inside other manufacturers' equipment. In this fast evolving market and with the introduction of 4K, infrastructures are constantly changing. The broadcast industry needs the flexibility to configure its systems in a cost-efficient way. This is why Embrionix's flexible input/output approach works so well, including a variety of format adaptation such as 12G-SDI, 6G-SDI, 3G-SDI, HD-SDI, SD-SDI , HDMI, SDI-to-IP, Ethernet, etc..

Adder Technology

Adder were showing their KVM-over-IP technology (Keyboard Video Mouse) at BVE, along with a new command and control switch that can control up to eight PCs with just one keyboard and mouse. The Adder CCS-PRO8 allows operators to control up to eight machines across eight displays using just one mouse and keyboard. It is ideal for improving ergonomics in a control setting where space is at a premium or where management of multiple computers from one station is required. Featuring FreeFlow technology, the Adder CCS-PRO8 enables users to move from one display to the next simply by moving the mouse across screen borders.

Wowza Media Systems

Wowza was demonstrating its Video Streaming CDN, which allows easy distribution and scaling of Wowza Streaming Engine™ or Wowza Streaming Cloud™ live streams. Ensuring that your workflow is flexible and scalable is key to your live-streaming success – you can try it for free on their website too.
